Royal British Legion Welfare Services
What is this service?
Founded in 1921, The Royal British Legion (RBL) is the UK's largest Armed Forces charity, providing lifelong support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Its mission is to ensure the unique contribution of those who served is never forgotten and that they receive care when needed.
The RBL provides comprehensive welfare services (online or by telephone), including financial assistance, debt advice, and support for housing. It supports recovery through the Battle Back Centre, offering adaptive sports for wounded, injured, or sick personnel.
The charity operates care homes providing specialist dementia support and connects veterans through local branch networks to combat loneliness.
As the national Custodian of Remembrance, the RBL safeguards the memory of the fallen, organizing the annual Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Sunday events.
Furthermore, the Legion acts as an advocate, campaigning to improve the lives of the Armed Forces community and upholding the Military Covenant.
With over 180,000 members and 110,000 volunteers, RBL provides 365-day-a-year support, ranging from career transition services to mental health guidance.
